It was a balmy night 10 days ago in our apartment in Bangalore.

Ayden was running round and round around the bean bag, on which I was sitting. After a few seconds Ayden increased his momentum. I mean, what is more fun than running around? You got it, it is more running around.

So this was going on for some time and no amount of breaks (stopping Ayden) or cajoling was going to stop little Bheem Boy.

And then it happened… the first bloody fall. And right in front of my eyes. No amount of disbelief can erase that moment from my mind.

A nano second after tripping over my feet, Ayden was flat on the floor with his lips and nose all bloodied. Both lower and upper lips looked smashed and blood was flowing from his smashed lips and both nostrils. Hmmm…a nano second later I was looking closely at Ayden’s face for more injuries and then I took him to the kitchen sink.

Ayden after the fall with swollen lips and quite sad.

In the meantime I had called for Nafisa to come in, and then she SAW!!! I kept on washing Ayden’s face until the blood flow had slowed down a lot. Nafisa was quite upset and Ayden was crying the whole damn time. No stoppage whatsoever. Understandable of course!!!

Since there was a slight blood flow from the nose we took him to the emergency room at Chaya hospital nearby and was told that Ayden was fine and we came back home.

Ayden after a couple of days. The swelling had come down a lot and only the smashed red skin on the bottom lips visible now.

Ayden at the beach

Ayden’s first trip to the beach. He was extremely happy to be in a wide open area. And quite happy to play in the sand.

However, he was not excited to get in to the water. I was okay with that ;-) .

I wanted Ayden to get a feel of the sea and beach  but not get too distressed to cause any kind of lasting bad impressions.

Hope the next time he will be more interested in the water!!!

Ayden say Yes

Ayden shakes his head – all the time. He never says yes, always ‘NO’ :-) .

A picture taken 3 months ago when Ayden had his head shaved. He was very quiet and allowed the barber to do his job.

Poor Ayden, he was visibly depressed, though, once he lost all his hair – to the barber. He was down for a couple of days when he used to go to the mirror and check himself. Now that his hair has grown he is Super!!!

Bald Ayden

P.S:- His hair has grown now!!!

Ayden at 15 months (almost)

Posted: 25th November 2011 by Dad in Milestones, Pictures

Ayden is growing in leaps and bounds. Not in terms of weight or height, but in terms of activities. I guess this is how babies grow.

New things:

  1. Says more than two words – Momma, Dada, Hi, Juice…
  2. Walks backwards
  3. Hangs on to things with just his two hands supporting his body weight
  4. Climbs up stairs
  5. Plays with building blocks
  6. And more…

(When will I (and Mom) sleep for 8 hours straight without any interruptions? SIGH!!!)

So a couple of pictures below of Ayden.

And a candid shot of Ayden and Mom in the background.

Thanks to The Godfather for renewing the domain name.

…yeah it was shock but I knew that he will achieve this milestone this month. When he started standing there was no stopping for him to explore more skills using his legs. He walks like a little zombie. He is still crawling a lot and walks every little now and then. Its funny but we are not training him or forcing him to do all this, its coming to him naturally. The only thing we are actually forcing him to do is to call us mama & dada. He is saying these words undiscriminating us :)

As usual, a lot of changes with Ayden. Everyday is a revelation for us. And our good luck continues in the sense that Ayden is still well behaved and not troublesome. Although, I doubt for how long :-) .

1) Standing – Ayden can stand on his completely and for indefinite periods of time. First time we saw him standing was an incredible experience by itself. And just not for us. We could see the excitement in Ayden as he was standing. He was hollering about and looking at both of us with wild and excited eyes. Brilliant stuff!!!

2) Food – He eats BROCCOLI. Yes, you read that right, broccoli. Hmmm… it helps if Dad and Mom likes broccoli also though, I suppose ;-) .

3) Ayden is officially a toddler now. He is no longer an infant. He crawls a lot, stands a lot, walks a bit and generally very mobile. There is no stopping the DragonFly!!!

4) He has also become very perspective now. He is always looking at us or watching at us (on the sly, always on the sly). So he somehow knows when we are doing something or talking about him etc. The most interesting thing? It happens when Mom or I change into street clothes, especially if we wear a black T shirt.

Why? As soon as one of wears a T-Shirt he instinctively knows that one of us is going out of the house. And he wants to go out too! So he will immediately run towards and put his arms up indicating that we should take him too. God forbid, if we neglect to take him into our arms soon. I was expecting this to happen after a year or so and was surprised he has started this so soon.

I finish this post with Ayden wearing a Black Sabbath Tee customized for him. Yeah, he is still too small to fit in the shirt properly.

5) Update: Thanks Mommy for the reminder!

How could I forget his bunny teeth? At last Ayden has a smile with a couple of front teeth visible. Lovely!!!

There have been a heluva lot of changes with Ayden in a matter of weeks. Mom sometimes go mad with Ayden being a full time job. Ha ha… Lovely experience though!

Sitting – Ayden has perfected the art of sitting now. He can sit without falling off while looking up. Good job!

Standing – Ayden can stand properly by holding on to something, a hand, a leg, the couch, the bed, table leg, anything. And he is much more balanced without falling down too much.

Ayden standing on the couch and looking back. Not the clearest of pictures.

Walking – After introducing him to the walker a few weeks back, Ayden has learnt well. He just zooms around the house when it takes his fancy. The last couple of days he is even walking a few steps without any support or handholding. Of course, after taking a few steps he takes a tumble down and bawls out as if he is dying. No, really. He bawls out like crazy every time he takes a stumble. Poor guy. We have learnt to reduce this to a large extent now.

Running – he loves to run from Mommmy to me and back to Mommy. He can take 3-5 steps without falling. So we position ourselves at the approxmate distance for him to run 3-5 steps so he doesn’t have to fall.

Baby talk – How much he talks? Amazing stuff. And it happens mostly after midnight or in the early mornings – when mommy and daddy still want to SLEEP!!!

Food – Ayden has moved on to 3 semi solid food helpings a day – that means he gets a lot of nutrition in addition to mother’s milk. He loves mangoes, oranges, strawberries, grapes, mashed rice, potatoes, carrots, dal and sometimes we put spinach in his food and cheat him into eating that too. Ha ha ha! Oh, yeah, and he has started on egg yolk too.

P.S:- I have started calling him The Dragonfly. All because of the times he has attemted to fly (from the couch, bed and other assorted furniture) and falls down. He is Learning To Fly and hence The Dragonfly name.

A rarity, mom enjoying a moment on our Enfield Bullet bike. I pounced on the moment and took a quick low light pic. Sorry about the clarity.
